The Commonwealth Scholarships is fully funded and covers all the expenses including tuition fees, airfare tickets, stipend, thesis grant, Travel Allowance, Clothing allowance and others. The scholarship is funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). The scholarship is for talented and motivated students to enhance the knowledge and skills necessary for sustainable development.
The Commonwealth Scholarships Commission (CSC) in the UK offers a UK government scholarship scheme led by international development objectives. It is operated under the framework of the Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowships Scheme (CSFP). There are two types of nominating agencies for Master’s scholarships:

Benefits of the Commonwealth Masters Scholarship Programme
- The tuition fee will be granted.
- Applicants will get an airfare ticket from their home country to the Scholarship destination and return at the end of the award.
- Applicants will receive a stipend in the range of £1,347 or £1,652 per month for those studying at universities in the London metropolitan area.
- A thesis grant towards the cost of preparing a thesis or dissertation, where applicable.
- Applicants will receive a Study Travel Allowance for the cost of study-related travel within the UK or abroad.
- Clothing allowance, where applicable.
- In case the applicant has children either a widow, divorced or a single parent, they will be given a child allowance of £576.61 per month and 143 per month for the second and third child exceeding the age of 16, If their children are living with them at the same address in the UK.
Commonwealth Scholarships 2024 Requirements (Eligibility)
- Applicants must be a citizen of a Commonwealth country or have been granted refugee status by an eligible or must be a British Protected Person.
- Applicants must be not over 30 years old for a Master’s & not over 35 years old for a Ph.D. during the time of application.
- For Master’s scholarships, the candidate must have completed a first-class degree in all aspects of a graduate qualification (16-year degree ie MSC/MA/MBA/BS/BBA, etc.) in the relevant field of study by the application deadline.
- Ph.D. Scholarship, The candidate must hold a full first-class degree in all aspects in a postgraduate qualification (17/18 years MS/MPhil degree) in the relevant field of study by the last date of application.
- Applicants not registered for a PhD, or MPhil, or Masters at a UK university before September/October 2024 or the candidate must not have previously studied at an equivalent level in the UK.
