Job Description

Location: Helvetas Nepal Country Office, Lalitpur, Nepal with frequent field visits

Coach/Mentor: Knowledge Management and IT Coordinator

Key learning objectives: The Trainee will have exposure to the professional working environment and will gain hands-on experience in social media management for a development organization, effective communications, technologies, and teamwork. The trainee will also build a professional network within the development and communications sectors.

Learning areas:

Compliance with policies, rules/regulations, and guidelines

Understand and adhere to relevant policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines of HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation (Code of Conduct; NPR-Nepal; Finance Manual; Security Response Guide; Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Guide; Mobbing, Sexual Harassment & Abuse of Authority; Code of Conduct Against Corruption etc.).

Support Knowledge team in digital media management

Assist in creating engaging and visually appealing content for Helvetas Nepal’s social media channels in collaboration with the Project communication and or Knowledge Management team.
Learn and support in updating and maintaining the organization’s social media profiles, ensuring consistency in branding and messaging.

Monitor social media channels for comments, messages, and mentions, and engage with the audience in a timely and professional manner.

Capture photos and videos during field visits, workshops, and events for use in social media content.

Coordinate with project teams to gather information and stories for sharing on social media platforms.

Assist in translating/transcribing contents into English and Nepali.

Assist in developing digital communication materials, including infographics, GIFs, and short videos.

Ensure compliance with Helvetas Nepal’s communication and branding guidelines in all social media activities and all knowledge products.

Required Education and Competencies

Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree (within two years of applying) in communication, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.

Required Competencies:
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali (Nepali typing in UNICODE is a must)

Familiarity with various social media platforms and their functionalities

Basic graphic design skills and using design software

Passion for storytelling and an eye for creating visually appealing content

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, a team player

Photography and videography skills are an advantage

Good interpersonal and communication skills

Good team player and effective communicator

Reliable, sincere with a positive outlook

Commitment towards gender equality, social inclusion, poverty reduction
