Local Initiatives for Biodiversity, Research, and Development (LI-BIRD) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established in October 1995 with its Head Office in Pokhara and Programme Coordination Office in Lalitpur. LI-BIRD is committed to capitalizing on local initiatives for sustainable management of renewable natural resources and improving the livelihoods of rural people in Nepal.

‘Renewable Energy for Resilient Agri-Food System (RERAS)’ project, funded by Royal Norwegian Embassy and led by UNDP Nepal, is being implemented by LI-BIRD in 11 municipalities of Sudurpashchim, Karnali and Bagmati Provinces (4 in Karnali, 4 in Sudurpaschim and 1 in Bagmati) in collaboration with the local governments and partnership with Alternative Energy Promotion Center (AEPC), International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) and World Food Programme (WFP). The project aims to increase agricultural productivity and food and nutrition security by enhancing the use of reliable and affordable energy solutions for the production, irrigation, processing, storing, packaging, and marketing of locally grown farm products.

Team Leader (Level-9)-1, (Women only, based at LI-BIRD Head Office, Pokhara, Kaski)

Job Summary: Reporting to the Programme Operations Director, the Team Leader (TL) is responsible for the overall management of the BftW-funded Climate Resilient Agriculture (CRA) project by providing a leadership role in the areas of planning, monitoring & evaluation coordination, documentation and reporting. The TL ensures proper management of the project resources including staff and budget. TL is responsible for building a relationship with the donor, providing technical guidance and maintaining congenial working relationships with other projects. TL requires establishing the highest level of coordination with governments, BFTW partners and other key stakeholders at the local, provincial and national levels. TL also required to work closely with various units at LI-BIRD to ensure adequate coordination and programme synergies.

Education and Experience: Master’s degree in Organic/Ecological Agriculture, Conservation Ecology, Natural Resource Management or related discipline, with 5 years’ work experience in project management.

Senior Programme Officer (Level 8)-1, (based at LI-BIRD Site Office, Birendranagar, Surkhet)

Job Summary: Reporting to the Team Leader, the senior programme officer, will be responsible for the overall management of the project at the province level by providing the leadership role in planning, execution, monitoring, reporting and overall coordination with key stakeholders. SPO’s key duties include efficient management of the project resources including staff and budget; building relationships with donors and other consortium partners; coordinating with the local and provincial governments for leveraging resources and building synergies in programme implementation and scaling up of potential innovations; monitoring of project interventions/activities on regular basis and providing technical guidance to the project team and beneficiaries to achieve project outcomes.

Education and Experience: Master’s Degree or equivalent from a recognized university in the field of Agriculture with specialization in agroecology, conservation agriculture, natural resource management or related field with a minimum of three years of work experience.
