Apply for the University of Tokyo MEXT Scholarship 2024. Applications are invited for the University of Tokyo MEXT Scholarship 2024 in Japan.  The applications are open to International Applicants. It is awarded by the University of Tokyo. The University of Tokyo provides courses for those who want to pursue a Master’s, or PhD are encouraged to apply.

The scholarship program is the Japanese Government Scholarship. The scholarship program is fully funded and covers all the expenses including tuition fees, living expenses, economy-class air tickets and others. The Japan Government Scholarship is offered by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) Japan on the recommendation of the University of Tokyo.

The University of Tokyo was established in 1877 and is located in Bunkyō, Japan. The University of Tokyo is first Japan’s first Imperial University. About 30,000 national and international students enrolled in the university. It is ranked #1st in Asia and Japan and 26th number in the worldwide.

Scholarship Duration

• For Master’s Program:  October, 2024 – September, 2026 (2 years)

• For Doctoral Program:  October, 2024 – September, 2027 (3 years)

Benefits of the MEXT Scholarship

• The scholarship program will cover the full admission fee.

• Applicants will get 100% of the tuition fee covered by the APU Tuition Reduction Scholarship.

• Applicants will be provided a monthly stipend of 144,000 JPY per month for Masters and 145,000 per month for Doctoral.

• Applicants will receive an economy-class air ticket from their home country to APU and a return ticket at the end of the program.

Eligibility Criteria

• Overseas applicants are eligible to apply for the APU MEXT UR Scholarship.

• Applicants must be from the countries mentioned above.

• Applicants must be born on or after April 2, 1989.

• Applicants must possess at least a 2.30 GPA on a 3.00 scale at their most recent university.
