USAID is hiring for a Development Outreach and Communication Specialist

Summary

The DOC Specialist maintains and implements the overall Mission communications strategy, and is responsible for collecting, investigating, managing, and distributing information associated with Mission programs, projects, activities, and events; serves as the Activity Manager, Contracting Officer’s Representative or Assistance Officer’s Representative for a media services activity. The Specialist is part of the DOC Unit, which is comprised of the Specialist, Senior DOC Advisor, and Translator.

Qualifications and Evaluations

A Minimum bachelor’s degree in English, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field is required.

Requirements:

Physical Demands: The work requested does not involve undue physical demands.

Post Entry Training: Familiarization training in USAID and USG-specific press procedures, regulations and methods, and orientation to performing public relations work from a donor-agency perspective, will be provided. Formal courses will be offered for USAID staff, as appropriate; and courses, seminars, conferences, and other activities in fields related to the function of the position will be provided subject to job relatedness, course offerings, and the availability of funds.

Education Requirements:

Education:  A Minimum bachelor’s degree in English, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field is required.

Evaluations: Applications that do not meet the required minimum qualifications will not be scored. Candidates meeting the required qualifications for the position will be evaluated based on information presented in the application. USAID reserves the right to conduct interviews with the top-ranked short-listed candidates. If the interview is conducted, the interview will be one of the determining factors in the final selection.
